The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office looked at for-profit schools. For-profit schools are typically vocational, technical and correspondence schools. Studies compared those for-profit schools to other types of post-secondary education such as State or private universities. Students as some for-profit schools have a higher unemployment rate and are also more likely to default on student loans than students at public or non-profit schools.
